Biography of the Artist
Chen Xuezhang was born in 1946 in Mianzhu, Sichuan. He specializes in traditional Chinese art forms, such as silk fans, New Year posters, embroideries, and rubbings of famous calligraphy and Taoist Paintings. He and his sons have devoted themselves to the preservation of Chinese arts by founding a workshop dedicated to high-quality folk art. The objects produced there are well-known in Sichuan and China. One of Chen's embroideries was presented to President Clinton by the governor of Sichuan during the state visit to Mianzhu in the 1990s.
