Zhang Guanghai was born in 1947 in Chengdu, Sichuan. He now teaches Chinese painting in the Department of Art at Sichuan Teachers University. Unlike the work of other traditionalist Chinese artists, paintings by Professor Zhang can best be described as contemporary Chinese art that comments on the life of the modern artist. He redefines the Chinese art tradition via ink, line, and color, and by constructing a series of paintings that reflect his views of self and society. Quiet and dignified, his contemporary Chinese paintings are vibrant in color, nostalgic in composition, and critical in theme. Prof. Zhang is a contemporary artist with a traditional heart.

Zhang Jiying was born in 1948 in Henan. She was originally trained in the genre of birds and flowers, but she also developed her own interest and her own distinctive style in the reproduction of Buddhist art. After graduating from Chengdu Fine Arts Academy in 1994, Zhang assumed a position as an illustrator in the Peoples Publishing House for Illustrated Narratives in Chengdu. She recently retired and, as an independent artist, devotes her time mostly to Buddhist figure painting. Her reproductions of Buddhist art have been collected by Chinese museums and private collectors, and are well received in Chengdu and Beijing. Buddhist paintings by Ms. Zhang from the Khara Khoto Collection, currently housed at St. Petersburg, showcase her mastery of traditional Chinese art methods.
