Print, ink and color on rice paper, with original frames, under glass.

The print comes in a silver- colored metallic frame, well-suited to the color and subject matter of the piece.  The frame is in good condition, and since it is not new it shows minor signs of wear (very small scratches and a few tiny dents). The photo does not do justice to the quality of the painting.

Biography of the Artist

Wu Zuoren (1908-1997) was a native of Jingxi, Anhui. He is well-known in China for traditional Chinese painitng and oil painting. He entered the Shanghai University of Arts in 1927, and then transfered to Nanguo Academy under Xu Beihong in 1928. Later He joined Nanguo Society organized by Tian Han. In 1928, Wu stuided under Xu Beihong in NCU Nanjing. 1929-30, Wu studied in France, then in Royal Brussels Academy, Belgium. He was awarded Gold Medal in 1931. He returned China in 1935 and served as a lecturer in Dept. of Fine Arts, NCU Nanjing. He organized the Shanghai Artist Association in 1946, and joined Xu Beihong as professor and provost of NAA Beijing. After 1949, he held various leading posts at CAFA and as acting president of CAA.
