This painting is a reproduction of the famous Double Screen by Zhou Wenju of the Five Dynasties (10th c.) currently held in the Palace Museum in Beijing. The painting is accompanied by two lengthy inscriptions at the left end, which are not included in this photo. The fine details, including crispy lines on the soft silk medium, demonstrates Huang's passion, skills, and dedication to classical Chinese painting traditions and aesthetics. Huang spent good six months reproducing this painting in its original style with its original methods. After living with the painting for eight years, this and other paintings had become part of him, and he was very emotional when he decided to put it up for sale in order to support his other art projects. This painting is a collectible.

Artist and His Painting

Huang Dekun (b. 1975-) graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts Academy in 1998, and has been teaching Chinese painting and calligraphy at Sichuan Teachers University. Inspired by the painting styles of Tang (618-907), Five Dynasties (907-960), and Yuan (1279-1368) painting styles, Huang is committed to the studies of Chinese classical painting traditions and aesthetics. He values the same method in teaching his students and is passionate about Chinese painting traditions and the technique of learning-by-copying. His paintings in the style of Chinese painting masters can be compared with museum-owned masterpieces that are copies of or inspired by artists of the Tang, Five Dynasties, and Yuan. His reproductions of famous old paintings are one of the gems in WEI YANG ART GALLERY. Huang's reproductions are a thrilling and sensible alternative for the serious collector.
